Georgian MPs visiting Portugal to discuss the Damage Reduction Programs and Drug Policy Enforcement

The Vice Speaker, Zviad Dzidziguri, the Chair of the Legal Issues Committee, Eka Beselia, the Chair of the Health Care and Social Issues Committee, Akaki Zoidze and the Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Kakhaber Kuchava are to participate in the discussion of Damage Reduction Programs and Drug Policy Enforcement in Portugal on September 10-14. The visit is organized by the Eurasia Damage Reduction Network and Open Society – Georgia. The visit aims at exchange of experience of development of damage reduction programs, financing and performance, as well as study of drug policy strategies, including drug decriminalization and partnership between law-enforcement agencies, healthcare institutions and NGOs. The visit covers:
- Meetings with the respective state agencies responsibility of which covers management of damage reduction programs, enforcement and financing;
- Meetings with the Commissions for Dissuasions of Drug Addiction and police to discuss drug policy, drug addiction diagnosis, treatment and prevention;
- Meetings with the providers and enforcers of damage reduction program services;
- Field visits with the service providers and meetings with the damage reduction program users.
The Delegation as well comprises NGOs.
