The Speaker, Archil Talakvadze holds the bilateral meetings within the Batumi International Conference “Georgia’s European Way”. At the meeting with the Vice-chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania, Florin Iordache, the parties discussed Georgia-Romania historical friendship and cooperation.
As noted, the two countries are soon to conclude the strategic partnership agreement to take the relations to qualitatively new stage. The parties underlined importance of direct flights, as well as the Constitutional reform in Georgia, and the role of the Parliament in the new political reality.
Speaking about the challenges Georgia encounters, F. Iordache noted that Georgia is the leader country in the region and the guarantee of stability. The official position of Romania is that Georgia shall become EU and NATO member.
The Speaker thanked the Vice-Chairman for support to EU and NATO integration of the country. He underlined that Georgia is committed to accept any initiative facilitating to democratic and economic development of Georgia. He invited his Romanian colleague to Georgia.
The meeting was attended by the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Sophio Katsarava.
