The Speaker, Archil Talakvadze met with the Deputy Speaker of the Swedish Riksdag, Kerstin Lundgren within the Batumi International Conference “Georgia’s European Way”.
The parties discussed close inter-Parliamentary ties and emphasized cooperation between the Parliamentary administrations.
The Speaker introduced the main changes envisaged under the Constitutional reform and the new Rules of Procedure. The parties touched upon the proportional elections as the ruling party decided, respective Constitutional changes and importance of the constructive political dialogue.
He confirmed that the ruling party is committed to consider all OSCE/ODIHR recommendations. The parties underlined occupation of historical regions of Georgia as the key challenge for the country and noted the progress for EU integration.
EU support will be important for enhancement of economic capacity of Georgia, as noted.
The Speaker thanked K. Lundgren for support of Sweden to territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as EU and NATO integration of Georgia.
