The Speaker, Irakli Kobakhidze hosted the German MP, Coordinator for Intersocietal Cooperation with Russia, Central Asia and the Eastern Partnership Countries Dirk Wiese and discussed the bilateral relations and the Parliamentary agenda.
The parties emphasized the 4th wave of the judicial reform and decentralization reform, as well as the new Rules of Procedure. The parties underlined the progress of Georgia in human rights protection and overviewed the EaP future plans and perspectives, touching upon the expectations of Georgia from this format.
The parties stressed importance of close cooperation with EaP countries and discussed the challenges Georgia encounters. It is important to intensify economic cooperation projects within EaP, they stated and underlined importance of students exchange programs.
According to D. Wiese, Georgia is an important partner for Germany and is the leader amongst EaP countries. He noted that awareness on Georgia has significantly increased in Germany by means of the Frankfurt Book Fair.
The meeting was attended by the Chair of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee, Sofo Kiladze, Chair of the Legal Issues Committee Anri Okhanashvili and the Chief of the Speaker’s Cabinet Nikoloz Samkharadze.
