The parties discussed bilateral relations, inter-Parliamentary cooperation and importance of active ties between the Friendship Groups.
The parties underlined the role of Switzerland in capacity of the mediator in Georgia-Russia relations. The parties touched upon economic relations between the countries and the prospects. “We started the official visit to Switzerland with interesting meetings as with the President of the Parliament, so with the Heads of the Friendship Groups from the Lower House and the Senate. We discussed various dimensions of our relations, including the political aspects. Switzerland plays the crucial role for Georgia in various terms, including as the mediator between Georgia and Russia in various directions and hence, it was important for us to inform them about the situation in this regards in Georgia. We also discussed further development of this process. Also, despite Switzerland is not the NATO and EU member state, cooperation with Switzerland is paramount for us as it plays the key role in the region in general and especially for development of bilateral cooperation between Georgia and Switzerland in political and economic terms. We enjoy the significant perspective of enhancement of relations and we in details discussed it. We introduced the ongoing processes in Georgia in democratic development terms and about economic milieu. The discussion was interesting and I believe it will further facilitate to enhancement of our relations”, - the Speaker stated.
“I hope for continuation of the progress of Georgia and development of Georgian economy. We have many dimensions of our relations, including in tourism and agriculture and we will further develop our cooperation. Switzerland is a neutral country but we are always committed to render help and keep peace not only between Georgia and Russia but in regards of other countries as well”, - D. de Buman noted.
