The parties discussed EU integration of Georgia, visa liberalization and the respective challenges, as well as bilateral relations and future cooperation prospects.
“Switzerland is an important country which taking the political situation with Georgia, plays the role of mediator and deriving from this function, holds the special status. As to the topic of the meeting, visa liberalization was naturally followed with the tendency at the first stage when the number of asylum-seekers has increased, though the recent data reveals that the situation has been stabilized especially against the background when we have passed the legal regulations when Georgia is recognized more and more countries as a safe state. We effectively cooperate with Switzerland on security issues, as well as with law-enforcement agencies to serve the guarantee of achievement of stable dynamics in this regards”, - the Head of Georgia-Switzerland Friendship Group, Eka Beselia stated.
“First of all, we agreed that Georgia and Switzerland enjoy successful cooperation. We also believe that visa liberalization for Georgia is also successful. However, in this regards there are some problems related to the increased number of the asylum-seekers. It is the problem we shall attach hither attention as in Georgia so in Switzerland”, - V. Mascioli stated.
