MP, Dimitri Tskitishvili and the Head of the Labor Inspection Department at the Healthcare Ministry, Beka Peradze met with the local authorities, NGOs, business associations, companies, developers and trade unions in Kutaisi to discuss the changes to the organic law on Labor Safety and the future plans of the Labor Inspection Department.
According to Dimitri Tskitishvili, the spring session 2018 approved the draft abolishing the limits of the scope of the law to apply to all spheres of economic activity and to the public sector as from September 1, 2019.
The changes envisage the body monitoring the labor inspection to be entitled to, without pre-notice and the Court permit, any time inspect any subordinated works.
The draft defines the effective and differentiated sanctions within 100-50000 GEL according to the quality of offense and capacity of the company.
“In case of critical discrepancy, the inspector is empowered to terminate the right of activity to be later approved with the Court order. Georgian Government has been granted the term till September 1, 2019 to submit the draft to the Parliament to ensure effective and autonomous functioning of labor inspection. The law underlines the role of the Social Partnership Trilateral Commission providing the consultations for development of the strategy”.
The meeting is supported by NDI.
