The Secretary General of the Parliament, Givi Mikanadze held the introductory meeting with the Ambassador of Moldova, H.E. George Leuka.
The parties discussed aspects of bilateral cooperation and noted that Georgia-Moldova relations are gradually being intensified, which is important taking EU aspiration of both countries into account.
“We agreed that the relations in all the directions – legislative, executive, business etc. – are intensified, which is routinely evidenced. These relations are particularly important taking EU aspiration of both countries into account. Thus, mutual support on this path, exchange of positions and joint efforts towards the international society are paramount. Our countries encounter similar challenges that shall be addressed jointly through the respective decisions”, - Mr. Mikanadze noted.
The parties touched upon relations on the legislative level and activity of the Friendship Groups.
“We particularly emphasized development of our relations on the legislative level and underlined activity of the Friendship Groups. We noted that Moldova has the upcoming Parliamentary elections in February to re-compose the Friendship Group to intensify cooperation with Georgia-Moldova Friendship Group. In this regards, the Speakers of the Parliaments enjoy friendly and business relations”, - he stated.
The parties discussed the meeting of the Speakers of the Parliaments and the Delegations of three countries scheduled in October in Tbilisi.
“The format concerning establishment of the Parliamentary Assembly of three countries, expresses the will of Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine on the legislative level. It was underlined that the expectations on the meeting are high”.
The parties spoke about the meetings of the Secretaries General of the Parliaments of EaP states scheduled in Tbilisi and emphasized relations between the Staffs of Georgian and Moldovan Parliaments. The emphasis was made on the meeting of the Secretaries General of the Parliaments of EaP states scheduled on September 24-25 in Tbilisi.
“I informed the Ambassador about my meeting with my counterpart in Moldova in June and our friendly and close cooperation. We outlined the plans for development of our relations in bilateral and multilateral formats and how to jointly strive to ensure capacity building of the Staffs in terms of the functions of our Parliaments. In this regards, cooperation is particularly important as Moldova and Georgia are both the Parliamentary Republics and the role of the Parliaments is particularly outlined”, - G. Mikanadze noted.
He introduced the events scheduled for the upcoming year with participation of the Staffs of various Parliaments. The Ambassador expressed commitment to be actively involved in this process.
“I introduced the schedule for 2019 of the events with participation of the Staffs of Georgian, Moldovan and other Parliaments. He thanked us for this initiative and expressed his commitment to be involved in this process. He underlined that such activities and cooperation will positively affect further development of bilateral relations and personal relations between the people and will facilitate to development of friendly and partnership links”, - G. Mikanadze noted.
