The Winter Academy, initiated by the Parliament and funded by GIZ, started activity on “Research Direction for Strong Parliaments”.
The Staff members of the EaP Parliaments will hear the presentations and lectures within a week.
The first meeting of the Academy was open with the welcome remarks by the Secretary General of Georgian Parliament, Givi Mikanadze.
He thanked the attendees for participation and underlined GIZ role in funding trainings.
“It is a historical day as we open the first Winter Academy for Staff members of the EaP Parliaments to now become traditional. It is noteworthy that the Academy unifies the research personnel of all 6 countries of the region: Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Moldova, Belarus and Ukraine. The event is being held within “Tbilisi Memorandum” launched in September, 2018 when the Network of the Secretaries General of EaP Parliaments was established. Within this network, we have planned the number of the events. Germany took the most active part in the events by means of the Bundestag experts and representatives leading the trainings and sharing their experience. It is noteworthy that the co-opener of the Academy is the newly appointed Secretary General of Armenian National Assembly and we agreed to open the Winter Academy in Tbilisi symbolically. Let me congratulate you with the opening of the first Winter Academy. Together, we are stronger as joint efforts will resolve all the problems”.
The Secretary General of Armenian National Assembly, Tigran Galstyan and GIZ representative, Tamar Zodelava also addressed the attendees.
The Staff members of the Parliaments of 6 countries will have the thematic trainings and will share the German experience on February 11-15. The participants will be awarded the respective certificates.
