The Thematic Inquiry Group on Civic Engagement Instruments and Practices at the Permanent Parliamentary Open Governance Council heard the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Ekaterine Mikabadze, the Head of the Department of Local Government Development and Policy of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Nikoloz Rosebashvili and the representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Tornike Natroshvili.
The Representatives of the Ministries provided the Thematic Inquiry Group with detailed strategies of relevant ministries based on the principles of the rule of law, effective inter-departmental communication, civic engagement, transparency and accountability. Talks concerned the practices of the structural units operating in this area, web pages and the feedback mechanism.
As referenced at the meeting, so as to increase accountability, ministries are working to improve transparency and civic engagement mechanisms that further strengthen public confidence and guarantee effective delivery of public services.
According to Irine Pruidze, the Chair of the Council, after the completion of the verbal hearings, the Group will develop a report laying out recommendations to make citizen engagement in public institutions steadier, more sorted out and gainful.
