The Committee dedicated the special sitting to women labor migration related to the Conference “Women and Migration”.
The Committee members heard the reports on challenges and opportunities. Women labor migration and Georgian diaspora were the topics of the report by the Doctor of Economy, TSU Migration Study Center researcher, Natia Chelidze.
The report is based on the studies and emphasizes the gender aspects of migration, as well as migration reasons, challenges and consequences. “The main reason of labor migration is improvement of material condition. However, the studies revealed that the factors conditioning women labor migration also envisages obtainment of freedom, breaking loose and gaining new experience”.
She spoke about the difficulties Georgian women encounter in social integration and in health terms abroad. She emphasized interrelation of increased migration index and aggravated demographic statistic. She spoke about distribution of migrants according to the countries and gender.
The Governmental Migration Commission Secretariat executive secretary, Giorgi Jashi spoke about the migration processes and Europe, challenges and opportunities. He spoke about experience of European countries and current approaches and emphasized EU document on migration agenda.
The document was purposed to regulate the migration crisis, to protect rights of migrants and consider interests of the recipient countries.
The Committee approved the reports and agreed to hold the in-depth scientific researches.
