The Committee considered the Bill on State Compensation and State Academic Scholarship, envisaging the social provision guarantees for the families of the deceased or injured employees of the structure of the Environmental Ministry (participating in extinction of natural disasters or with the authority to detect and eliminate violations in environmental sphere) in the amount of 1000 GEL monthly starting from June 1, 2018.

The Bill was introduced by the author, Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Kakha Kuchava.

“The example is the emergency situation - fires in the forests in 2017. As you know, without the foresters and rangers, fire could not be extinguished and without their devotion, the damage would be larger. Each ranger of the forests and protected areas covers thousands of hectares. At present, one ranger shall supervise 3700 hectares while the standard in Europe is 500-1000 hectares. Despite, according to the statistic data (2016), the rangers detect up to 3500 offenses annually. They have to cover thousands of kilometerse under hard conditions. Deriving from their activity, risk of fatal accidents is high”.

The Chair, Akaki Zoidze stated that the Committee has the remark to the Finance Ministry that MPs shall reconcile on.

He considers that the respective changes shall as well be adopted to the law on State Pension. The formulation offered by the Finance Ministry cuts the list of the persons, K. Kuchava stated. “For the II reading, we will submit the version communicated with the Finance Ministry”, - he noted.

The Committee supported the Bill.
