The Chair of the Health Care and Social Issues Committee, Akaki Zoidze and the Committee member Dimitri Tskitishvili met with the US Trade Representative Delegation members, Michael O’Donnell and Erland Herfindahl to discuss main directions of the labor safety system adopted by the Parliament and the legal changes on labor rights and labor inspection.
As noted, Georgia and USA are on one of the preliminary stages of free trade – Generalize System of Preferences (GSP), which envisages certain norms and standards.
“The US Trade Rerpesentative Office is the part of the White House Administration defining trade relations with various countries. It is noteworthy that Georgia-USA free trade form – GSP – is valid between the countries establishing certain preferences and privileges to trade relations and constitutes one of the pre-steps of free trade. It covers labor standards and labor rights as well. At the meeting, we introduced the legislation of Georgia and enforcement process in line with the GSP requirements”, -D. Tskitishvili noted.
