The Chair of the Education, Science and Culture Committee, Mariam Jashi and the Head of Georgia-Turkey Friendship Group, Archil Khabadze met iwht the former Mayor of Trabson, founder of Avrasya University, Ömer Yıldız.
The parties discussed cooperation in the education sphere at the meeting, attended by the Secretary General of International Investors Association in Georgia, Osman Mzhavanadze.
O. Yildiz spoke about the University hosting 10 000 foreign students and other than investing in education, constituting the hub for attraction of young generation and development of tourism. He introduced the idea of establishing the International University in Batumi for 5 000 Georgian and foreign students to study in English. “At this stage, we hold the legal processes necessary for foundation, authorization and accreditation of the University”, - he noted.
M. Jashi hailed the idea. “Inasmuch as the 4-point Governmental plan envisages educational reform, including internationalization of education, we hail the idea. Today, we have 10 000 foreign students in Georgia but we strive to increase their number and to make Batumi one of the attraction hubs”, - she stated.
