The Chair of the Education, Science and Culture Committee, Mariam Jashi attended the First Scientific Conference of the Pedagogues of the Secondary, Public and Private Schools on “Application of the Innovative Educational Technologies and Approaches in Academic Process” held in Caucasus International University.
She addressed the attendees and spoke about importance of such events, facilitating to real assessment of processes in schools, realization of the changes necessary for provision of high quality, inclusive and cognitive environment in schools. “Such events shall be held not only in the general education but in higher education system as well. The Universities shall facilitate to the meetings with the pedagogues, consultations, implementation of their offers and initiatives, as unity of the professors and pedagogues underlines the fact that the basic education from school is paramount for further hither and vocational education successful in the Universities”.
According to her, the proposals submitted are interesting concerning new teaching system of Georgian literature and history, media literacy etc. There are the issues, that may be raised on the Parliamentary level. “It is important to in fact ensure qualitative changes in the classrooms. Numerous politicians or public figures have reiterated that one pedagogue and one pupil can change the world and it is true. Your knowledge serves the basis for the public figures, politicians, athletes and this process shall be interesting and natural for you and for the children. Active teaching approaches shall be maximally facilitated”.
According to her, there are the initiatives under implementation. She noted that for the first time in 2018, the textbooks for the 6th grade children will be completely updated with involvement of the specialists and the society. The textbooks for the 7th and 12th grade children will be updated in 2019.
The novelty implies change of the professional developments scheme of the pedagogues and the examination system, aspiring for professional development of the teachers instead of punitive measures.
The examination system is also under modification to establish the system oriented to creation of the academic environment oriented to knowledge. The arts and sports education capacities shall as well be enhanced in schools.
“Besides personal development and physical education, it is directly related to conflict prevention, communication and crime prevention amongst children. In this term, sports education is planned and schools shall preferably have more art teachers for more interesting academic process and for facilitation to personal development and academic success of the pupils”.
