Anri Okhanashvili: US and USAID commit to aid us in implementing successful and democratic judicial reforms

The Chair of the Legal Issues Committee, Anri Okhanashvili met with the Senior Rule of Law Advisor at USAID’s Center for Human Rights in Washington, Andrew Solomon within his visit to Georgia.

The Chair briefed the USAID representative on the ongoing judicial reforms in Georgia - “While meeting with the guest, I scrutinized the fourth wave of judicial reform and the process that is being carried out in the Legal Issues Committee regarding the selection of candidates for the Supreme Court Judges. We also touched upon the reforms in the field of justice, which should promote greater transparency and accountability to the public, thus enhancing the quality of democracy and standards of human rights in Georgia", - he noted.

As per A. Okhanashvili, being a strategic partner, the US provides significant support to Georgia in several areas, especially in the field of justice.

"This is another testimonial that the US and USAID commit to aid us in implementing successful and democratic judicial reforms", - the Chair of the Committee reported.
