The Committee discussed three candidates to two members of the Prosecutor’s Council – Irma Chkadua, Lavrenti Maglakelidze and Polikarpe Moniava. MPs considered that all the documents submitted by the candidates comply with the norms under the laws.
I. Chkadua is nominated by Bar Association of Georgia, L. Maglakelidze by I. Javakhishvili State University and P. Moniava by University European Academy. Nomination of the candidates to the competition started on October 5 and accomplished on October 15.
In line with the law on Prosecutor’s Office, the Parliament is entitled to elect the citizen of Georgia as the PC member, with higher juridical education with master’s academic degree with at least 10 years of experience in the respective field, high reputation and who is the recognized specialist of jurisdiction. The candidates will be selected amongst the professors and researches of Universities, Bar Associations and/or persons nominated by NCLEs on the basis of the nomination by the respective collective body.
