The Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee, Irakli Kovzanadze met with the Head of IMF Mission, Mercedes Vera-Martin, IMF Resident Representative, Francois Painchaud and the IMF senior economist, Sergio Rodriguez.
The parties discussed implementation of IMF program in Georgia, Governmental plans, budgetary parameters, economic dynamics in Georgia and forecasts for 2018-2019. I. Kovzanadze introduced his views about the budget and monetary policy, pension reform, capital market reform and Parliamentary oversight.
“We considered macro-economic tendencies of Georgia, challenges and perspectives. We in details spoke about the budget and fiscal issues, monetary policy and infrastructural reforms scheduled by Georgian Government for 2018. We underlined successful implementation of IMF program in Georgia”, - he noted.
Mme. Mercedes noted that she is glad that the economic situation in Georgia is much better than we estimated during our preceding visit. Georgia succeeds in economic reforming terms and we expect that 2018 will be better in terms of inclusive growth”.
