The Chair of Foreign Relations Committee, Irakli Beraia met with the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia at European Union, Tiovo Klaar to discuss the security and humanitarian situation in the occupied regions of Georgia.
I. Beraia highlighted Russia's illegal actions, including provocations during the pandemic, disinformation attacks on Georgia, Georgia's peace policy and the strengthening of the EU's efforts to ensure that Russia duly fulfills its commitments.
"I had an interesting meeting with Mr. Klaar, where we had the opportunity to talk about the grave situation in the occupied regions, Russia's destructive actions and the process of illegal borderization. We have paid special attention to the importance of the Geneva Peace Talks and the role of the EU in the peaceful settlement of the conflict. The visit of the EU Representative to Georgia during the pandemic once again confirms the priority of the Russian-Georgian conflict on the EU agenda”, - the Chairman of the Committee commented post hoc the meeting.
