The remote meeting of Irakli Beraia with the US Ambassador

The Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Irakli Beraia held the remote introductory meeting with the US Ambassador, H.E. Kelly Degnan to discuss the COVID-19 situation in Georgia and the response measures.

The parties overviewed the Georgia-USA cooperation aspects, the situation in the occupied regions of Georgia, illegal actions and hybrid campaigns, including disinformation and propaganda by the occupation forces even during the global pandemic, as well as the EU and NATO integration progress of Georgia.

The parties touched upon the Parliamentary Elections 2020 in Georgia and the related issues. “America is the main strategic partner and ally to Georgia. The scale and quality of our bilateral relations reach the highest point. Georgia enjoys the bipartisan support of the American partners evidenced with the Georgia Support Act approved by the House of Representatives, the budget and national defense authorization laws, as well as other important documents. We closely cooperate within the Georgia-USA strategic partnership charter in the directions of democracy and governance, defense and security, economy, people-to-people relations and cultural exchanges. America strongly supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia, as well as our EU and NATO integration. We attach particular importance and priority to further cooperation with our strategic partner”, – I. Beraia noted.
