The Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Irakli Beraia held the online meeting with the British MP, the Head of the Inter-Party Parliamentary Group on Georgia Issues, Jonathan Djanogly to discuss the COVID-19 situation, the response measures and gradual annulment of the restrictions.
The parties overviewed the directions of bilateral cooperation and stressed the situation in the occupied regions of Georgia, the illegal actions of the occupant forces, illegal hybrid campaign by Russia, including disinformation and cyber-attacks.
The parties touched upon the key aspects of the Parliamentary cooperation, the Parliamentary Elections in Georgia 2020, and the EU and NATO integration progress of the country.
“Britain is our strategic partner and we attach particular attention to further enhancement of cooperation in wide directions. In 2019, we celebrated the 100th anniversary of Georgia-Britain diplomatic relations. Georgia is one of the countries signing the Strategic Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with Great Britain. After the BREXIT, it is the document stipulating the legal frame between two strategic partners – in policy, economy, defense and security spheres, as well as people-to-people relations”, - I. Beraia noted.
