According to Gigi Tsereteli, the situation in the region shall be normalized to prevent the new conflicts and humanitarian crisis. As Turkey is the OSCE member state, it has the rights and commitments as well assumed. Despite the problems, especially terrorism and border control, Turkey shall attempt more peaceful methods to achieve the goals than the wide-scale military actions.
According to G. Tsereteli, engagement of the international community and the leaders in this process for peace is crucial. M. Şentop underlined that the military actions solely aim against the terrorists and confirmed that Ankara chases the optimal goal to gain full control on own territory and borders.
The parties underlined significant threat of ISIS, increased migration flows related to the military actions in North Syria, and stressed the negative economic consequences.
“Turkey is the dignified member of OSCE and its Parliamentary Assembly and we value its high contribution especially in migration and anti-terrorism sphere. However, the military actions in North Syria shall be halted as soon as possible to commence the negotiations in view of conflict resolution and security of the population. We hail participation of the international leaders in this process and hope for normalized life, safety of the peaceful population and prevention of the new humanitarian catastrophe”, - G. Tsereteli noted.
