The members of the Organizational Commission on Publication of the Georgian Draft Constitution and its Universal Public Discussion met with the representatives of the Council of National Minorities at the Public Defender's Office. At the meeting main changes to the Constitution were discussed.

Paata Davitaia, the Deputy Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia protested against the ban on teaching Georgian language in Akhalgori and dedicated the special briefing to this issue.

The "Christian-Democrats” faction demand invitation of Kakha Baindurashvili, the Minister of Finance to the nearest sitting of the faction for inquiring the causes of the deficit of the school inventory.  Giorgi Akhvlediani, the Chairman of the faction held the briefing regarding this issue today.  

In the framework of public consideration of the Draft Constitution, the Constitutional Commission held a subsequent meeting in Georgian Technical University with the Professors of the University. David Bakradze, the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, and the Head of the Organizational Commission on Public Consideration took part in the meeting. He introduced the main changes to the Constitution to the general public. 

In the new edition of the Constitution there is a new chapter on local self governance. The members of the Constitutional Commission, the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia, municipalities and councils convened for  the discussion of this issue.

Giorgi Targamadze, the Leader of the Parliamentary Opposition replied to the initiative of Georgian Patriarchy and His Holiness and Beatitude Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II regarding granting the church lands to the new villages.

At the sitting of the Anti Crisis Council that was held today by the proposal of Paata Davitaia, the Deputy Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, the members of the Council were expecting Nika Gilauri, the Prime Minister. The sitting concerned the State Strategy on IDPs. Nonattendance by the Prime Minister caused the discontent among the members of the Council.

The Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Mr. David Bakradze will be one of the rapporteurs at the Forum of the Community of Democracies in Washington. The Forum of the Community of Democracies is the inter-governmental global coalition of the democratic countries, the primary objective of which is consolidation of democratic principles, norms and institutions in the world. This coalition comprises more than 100 states.

The Deputy-Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Paata Davitaia demanded convocation of the sitting of the Anti-crisis Council invitation of the Prime Minister, Nikoloz Gilauri thereto. According to the Statement of Paata Davitaia, the Prime Minister shall explain to the Council the reason of failure of implementation of the state strategy vis-a-vis the IDPs and the reason of the Government, being so inhuman towards them.

The meeting was attended by the representatives of the local self-government and Non-governmental Organizations, the IDPs and those who suffered as a consequence of the conflict. Rusudan Kervalishvili spoke of significance of the Resolution of the Security Council and ways of implementation thereof in Georgia.

At today’s briefing, Giorgi Tsagareishvili, the Member of the Parliament raised the issue of responsibility of Koba Subeliani, the Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees.

Consideration of the Draft Constitution was held in Telavi this time, in Iakob Gogebashvili State University. The supreme law of the country was introduced to the students and the lecturers by the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Mr. David Bakradze and the members of the Public Consideration Commission.

Another public consideration of the Draft Constitution was held in the Ministry of Defense. The Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, David Bakradze introduced the new Draft Constitution to the representatives of the Armed Forces and the Academy of Defense.

The Chairman of the Committee on Human Rights and Civil Integration, Gia Arsenishvili and the Member of the Parliament, Guram Kakalashvili took part in the work of the second Georgian-Polish Conference held in Lagodekhi on 14 August.

Consideration of the Draft Constitution continues. This time, the representatives of fifteen NGOs participated in the meeting, held with the members of the Public Consideration Organizational Commission.
