Today, at the sitting of Environment Protection and Natural Resources Committee the bill on amendments to the Georgian "Code of Forest” was considered.

According to the bill, the restrictions and terms considered by the Code of Forest do not spread on the occurrence, when it will be necessary to move the state forest fund territory into a special category for constructing the building having a special political meaning on that the government will take a decision.

The goal of the protocol presented by the president of Georgia for ratification on "the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Black Sea from Land-Based Sources and Activities” is protection of the Black Sea from land-based sources and activities, control and maximal eradication.   

Today, Committee has also considered the protocol presented for ratification by Georgian President on "The Black Sea Biodiversity and Landscape Conservation Protocol to the Convention on the Protection of the Black Sea Against Pollution”.

According to the protocol, the Contracting Parties shall identify and compile inventories of the components of biological and landscape diversity within three years of this Protocol coming into force. The Contracting Parties shall also adopt a list of landscapes and habitats of the Black Sea importance that may be destroyed. Also, they shall produce and commonly agree on the strategic action plan for the Black Sea biodiversity and landscape conservation protocol.

Committee Members unanimously supported to pass the considered issues to the plenary sitting.
