Joseph Biden, US Vice President Addressed Georgian People From the Tribune of Georgian Parliament Print Version

David Bakradze, Speaker of Georgian Parliament has called Joseph Biden’s, US Vice President visit to the parliament of Georgia as very important and exceptional event. "I am glad and happy US Vice President is the guest of Georgian parliament. This visit is exceptional not only for that the US is a flagman of the free universe and Georgia’s main strategic partner, but also for that Joseph Biden is one of the great supporters and compassionate person to Georgia”, - stated David Bakradze at the parliament sitting hall during US Vice President’s visit.

Joseph Biden, US Vice President has addressed to all Georgian people from the tribune of Georgian Parliament.

Joseph Biden has remembered his visit to Georgia during August military operations and noted that for that time, Georgia had a very hard period, but despite everything, Georgia was able to keep its state face and economical stability. "In August, at my visit to Tbilisi I made a vow that US would help and stand with Georgia. I had implemented that promise and now I am saying the same one again”, - stated Vice President.

Biden has underlined the significance of his visit to Georgia and noted that this visit to Tbilisi came deliberately right after President Obama’s trip to Moscow. "At Obama’s visit to Moscow, my arrival in Georgia had been already discussed and I was instructed right by the US President. USA-Russia relationship will not be reset at the expense of Georgia”, - stated Joe Biden.

US Vice President touched the issue of South Ossetia and Abkhazia and noted that US will never recognise those regions as independent states. He said US calls upon Russia to honour its international commitment, clearly specified in the April 12 ceasefire agreement.

Biden has also discussed the issues on temporarily occupied territories integration into Georgia and noted that Georgia will not achieve its dream if it is not whole and unified. "Only Democrat Georgia can restore territorial integrity and that’s why Georgia should continue the course and reforms, which are already begun”, - stated Joe Biden.

At the end of his speech, US Vice President discussed America’s strategic partnership with Georgia and stated that USA supports Georgia’s aspiration to join NATO.

US Vice President’s speech in the parliament sitting hall was attended by the representatives of Georgian government, self governments and NGOs. They had stopped US Vice President with applauds for several times.
