"We shall continue pressure on Russia to force it to fulfill the obligations towards Georgia, stipulated under the Agreement. International Community is not asleep and it is interested in solution of this question”, - the Leader of the standing delegation of the Kingdom of Denmark to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Michael Aastrop Jensen stated at the press-conference, held in Parliament today.
The Members of the standing delegation of the Kingdom of Denmark to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, within the scope of the visit, met the representatives of legislative and executive powers, IDPs, visited Gori, Tserovani, occupied territories.
The guest shared own impressions to the journalists and stated that this visit will facilitate the aspiration to raise the Russian-Georgian issue on the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe with more firmness.
"I personally am involved in consideration of Russian-Georgian relations and I was agree to deprive membership of Russia, as it has not fulfilled the demands, prescribed under the Agreement”, - the Leader of the standing delegation of the Kingdom of Denmark to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe stated. As he presumes, international community shall not look away from the conflict, on the contrary, it shall make more efforts to make pressure on Russia.
Before the visit to Georgia, the Members of Parliament of the Kingdom of Denmark visited Russia to study their position. Michael Aastrop Jensen stated that he does not believe in diplomatic pressure, so-called soft power on Russia and it is necessary to take resolute measures.
"I would like to recall Russia that it is a democratic country, as it declares, besides, it is the member country of the Council of Europe and it shall fulfill the obligations, envisaged in the Agreement, signed by itself”, - the Danish Member of Parliament stated. |
