The change shall be adopted to the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament, according to which the Bureau of the single mandate MP will no longer be funded from the local self-government budget. This issue was considered by the Committees On Procedural Issues and Rules, On Budget and Finance and On Regional Policy and Self-Government at the sitting today.
The author of the legislative initiative is the MP from majority, Zviad Dzidziguri. According to him, change shall be adopted not only to the Rules of Procedure, but to the Resolution of the Parliament “On Measures on Improvement of Relations of the Member of Parliament with the Electors”.
Similar to the majority members, minority as well supports exemption of the self-government units from obligation to fund the single mandate MP and activity of his/her Bureau, though as MP, Khatuna Gogorishvili remarked, the project shall include the indication to the source of financing.
“It would be preferable to include specification in the Article 19 that mentioned sums for hiring the Office of the single mandate MP Bureau, for communication, purchase of inventory, for funding the salaries for the staff, shall be issued from the Budget of the Parliament”, - she stated.
