The official visit of the Speaker of the Parliament, David USUPASHVILI and the Parliamentary Delegation to USA continues.

Mr. USUPASHVILI, along with the Delegation members, Tedo JAPARIDZE and Irakli CHIKOVANI, held the meetings in Capitolium. The Georgian MPs met with the Congressmen: John GARAMENDI, Sander LEVIN, David PRICE, Ted DEUTCH and the Senator Carl LEVIN.

One of the main topics of the conversation apart from cooperation in defense and security, was enhancement of trade relations and attraction of American investments to Georgia.

“Congressmen have high interest in these issues. Some of them outlined very concrete directions in agricultural sphere. They expressed commitment and interest to allow local businessmen start and develop their business in Georgia”, - David USUPASHVILI stated.

The Speaker of the Parliament and the Delegation were invited to the dinner, organized by NDI. The invitees at the dinner were four Ambassadors to Georgia, including John BASS. They spoke about current challenges of Georgia.

According to Tedo JAPARIDZE, the Parliamentary Delegation, chaired by the Speaker, David USUPASHVILI, achieved a very significant progress in USA – provided American partners with more information about ongoing processes in Georgia and showed them the role of Georgia in the region.

“Of course, the visit of the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia to USA is very important. The visit was held on a very high level. During meetings, our Delegation and the Speaker in person, managed to deliver the accurate information of the events of Georgia to American politicians. Important is that we managed to show perspective of Georgia, as a partner in this very difficult region – South Caucasus. During this visit, it will be most important not in terms solely how Americans consider processes in Georgia but how Georgia will be adjusted to the strategic plans of the new Administration of the President of USA”, - he stated.
