The Committee considered the draft by the Government “On Change to the Criminal Code of Practice”. According to the reporter, the Deputy-Minister of Justice, Alexander Baramidze, the draft Code was prepared by the Criminal Board 2 years ago and was submitted to the Parliament. As he stated, the Parliament did not even consider it, as a result of which, the draft was redeveloped in the Ministry of Justice and submitted in the new edition.
According to the Deputy-Minister, the number of articles of the draft code is very important and they provide real equality between the parties of the process. The changes precise the description of the “high quality of probability” and other issues.
The Committee considered adoption of the draft with the first reading as possible.
