The meeting of the Georgia-Estonia Friendship Group and Estonia-Georgia Friendship Group

The Estonia-Georgia Friendship Group members were interested in current political processes, Presidential elections, majority-minority relations and Constitutional changes. According to them, adoption of changes to the Constitution in Estonia is subject of consideration of two sequent convocations.

The Chair of the Legal Committee, Vakhtang Khmaladze elucidated that in comparison with the authority of the President under the current Constitution, the functions of the Prime Minister are enhanced, which entails disbalance. “Our aim is to adopt the changes to the Constitution before 2013 Presidential, which will balance the authorities of the President and the Prime Minister”, - he noted.
The Estonia-Georgia Friendship Group members also met with the Chair of the Foreign Committee, Tedo Japaridze and spoke about foreign policy, course and EU integration.
