The draft on “Official Language” as introduced by the Academy of Science at the sitting of the Committee, held in the Academy. The ad hoc commission worked on development of the draft with chairmanship of the Academician, Tamaz Gamkrelidze. The Commission is composed of language scientists and lawyers. It was agreed that the law on official language shall exist as it is one of the basis of statehood. Besides, there shall exist the state institutions to control the execution of the law and protect purity of the language. The Permanent Commission shall be set up chaired by the President of Georgia.
