The representatives of the Governmental agencies discussed the activity for six months since January 2013. It was stated that the aim of the Gender Equality Council is to protect the rights of women and girls in the country. Particular attention is attached to women residing in conflict regions and nearby areas, thus the Ministries of Internal Affairs, of Education and Science, of Health and Social Protection, of Economics and Sustainable Development, of Justice, of IDPs etc., the Public Defender, NGOs are involved in implementation of the national action plan, composed in accordance with the Resolution by UN Security Council. It was outlined that more coordination is needed to solve the number of problems. The Chair of the Council, Manana Kobakhidze and the representative of UN Women’s Organization, Eka Kvapilova opened the meeting. The meeting is the second this year. The working meetings are held on regular-basis.
