Issues of social protection of the former political figures and their families will be regulated under the competence of the Government. The Committee considered with the first reading the draft by Ani Mirotadze and Irine Imerlishvili on change to the law on Social Protection Guarantees for Former Political Figures and their Families. The current law envisages authority of the President under the Constitution and the law. Upon the oath by the newly elected President, the President will have Constitutional authority solely. Thus, it is necessary to adopt changes to the law. The draft envisages delegation of authority – after decease of the former political figures or their family members, the Government exercises authority of state protection and conveyance of the state cottage and/or personal transport means. The Committee supported submission of the drafts to the session.
