The Committee heard the report by the President of Athletics Federation. Leri Khabelov congratulated Georgian judo wrestlers with team world championship in Brazil and wished them luck. Constantine Lashkhi in his report spoke about the current problems and future plans. According to him, one of the main problems is infrastructure and alienated material-technical base. “A couple of decades ago, there were 8 gyms in Tbilisi, nowadays there is only one remaining for all kinds of sportsmen”, - he stated. According to him, the grave situation is with training the coaches as this profession is near to disappearing. He expressed his content for the resolution of March 28, 2013 of the Government to establish the State University of Physical Training and Sports. He also noted that he hails the active work on the new law on sports and expressed his hope that the new law will facilitate development of sports. As to the future plans, he stated that the Championship of Europe will be held in spring 2014 for licensing competitions, in case of winning of which, our sportsmen will participate in Youth Olympic Games in China in 2014. He thanked the Committee for interest in issues of Federation and expressed his hope that the Committee and the National Olympic Committee will jointly facilitate this sphere.
