David Lortkipanidze appealed to the Prosecutor General to start investigation on the facts of pressure on Vani Municipality Sakrebulo members, as he stated at the briefing. According to him, the Sakrebulo members are under pressure to support impeachment of the Governor. “When the Inter-Agency Commission has made the recommendation to abstain from impeachment during the pre-election period, the UNM deputy, Paata Lezhava, the Deputy of incumbent Governor Gia Mataradze and the resigned Chair of Sakrebulo, Mr. Kakabadze still under proceedings, force the Sakrebulo members to impeach the Governor by violence, blackmail, intimidation and menace to detain”, - he stated. According to him, the extraordinary session of Sakrebulo was held with violation, attended by the members only being under intimidation. The bigger part of the members did not know about the sitting, though P. Lezhava was actually leading it”, - he stated. As he stated, the Government is being discredited. “I think this is a very serious issue for the Prosecutor. This is the matter of prestige that finally to end the insinuations that the Government in municipalities conduct pressure on local authorities when in fact we have direct involvement of UNM in municipality activity using impeachment form”, - he stated.
