ამერიკის შეერთებული შტატების ყოფილ სახელმწიფო მდივანთან, ქალბატონ კონდოლიზა რაისთან, ჩემი და თინათინ ხიდაშელის შეხვედრის დროს (რომელსაც აგრეთვე ესწრებოდა საქართველოს ელჩი ამერიკის შეერთებულ შტატებში, ბატონი არჩილ გეგეშიძე) არ განხილულა ის საკითხი, რომ ქალბატონი რაისი საქართველოს მთავრობის მრჩეველი გახდებოდა. აღნიშნული ინფორმაცია პირველად გაზეთ „იზვესტიით“ გავრცელდა, თუმცა არანაირი ოფიციალური წყარო არ ყოფილა მითითებული. ეს ინფორმაცია არა მხოლოდ არ შეესაბამება სიმართლეს, არამედ შეხვედრისას განხილული თემების დამახინჯებული ინტერპრეტაციაა აღნიშნული გამოცემის მხრიდან. სტენფორდის უნივერსიტეტში შეხვედრისას ვისაუბრეთ ისეთ მნიშვნელოვან საკითხებზე, როგორებიცაა: საქართველო რეგიონულ კონტექსტში, რუსეთთან ურთიერთობა, ჩვენი ქვეყნის დემოკრატიული განვითარების პერსპექტივები და სხვა. ქალბატონმა რაისმა დაადასტურა, რომ ის და მთლიანად ამერიკის შეერთებული შტატები იყვნენ და რჩებიან საქართველოს მეგობრებად და აქტიურ მხარდამჭერებად. შეხვედრამ თბილ და მეგობრულ გარემოში ჩაიარა. აღსანიშნავია, რომ პრემიერ-მინისტრმა ბიძინა ივანიშვილმა უკვე გააკეთა კომენტარი ამ ინფორმაციაზე და უარყო გავრცელებული ხმები, თითქოს ქალბატონი რაისი მის მრჩევლად ინიშნება. იმედს ვიტოვებ, რომ ამგვარი გადაუმოწმებელი ინფორმაცია აღარ გავრცელდება ქართულ თუ უცხოურ მედიასივრცეში.

Special Statement of Mr. Tedo Japaridze - Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament of Georgia

“During our official visit in United States, MP Tinatin Khidasheli and I, along with Archil Gegeshidze, the Georgian Ambassador to United States of America, held a meeting with Doctor Condoleezza Rice, the former US Secretary of State. Neither prior nor after this meeting did the two parties explore the possibility of Ms. Rice becoming an adviser to the Georgian Government.
This information first was published in the Russian “Izvestia” newspaper without any references to the official source. I hereby unequivocally state that this information conveyed by the Izvestia misrepresents the agenda of the meeting. On the meeting at Stanford University, we talked about important issues, such as Georgia in a regional context, relations with Russia, future prospective of democratic development of our country and other issues of bilateral interest. Ms. Rice reaffirmed that both she, personally, and to her understanding, the US policy community as a whole, are committed to their strategic and amiable relationship with Georgia.
The meeting was conducted in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
It should be noted, that Georgian PM, Bidzina Ivanishvili, also commented on that information stating [that]: "It would have been my pleasure if such a politician like Condoleezza Rice would take up the position of an adviser of the Georgian Government; I would have welcome this and would have extended my gratitude. But, as I just learned, this is an errant interpretation and Tedo Japaridze has commented on this.”
