The draft by “Georgian Press Association” on change to the law on State Purchase was considered. According to the law, the tender announcement is published in the newspaper “24 hours”. The draft envisages abolition of this norm, which was introduced by the CEO Lasha Tugushi. “The current law establishes the privilege of one newspaper. This norm contradicts with the essence and objectives of the law”, - he stated. In his opinion, the printed media shall be selected by tender and competitiveness. The Committee supported the draft. As it was stated, the legislative initiative will be developed. The discussion was held on how necessary is publishing of tender announcement in printed media and expense budget means. “State pays to printed media for publishing the tender announcements. If there is no request, the printed media shall pay own costs to gain exclusive tender announcement”, - Zurab Tkemaladze stated. the Director of the IT Department of the Competition and State Purchas Agency, David Marghania doubted the necessity to publish tender announcements in printed media. According to him, state purchases are implemented online. Besides, as he noted, the agency provides SMS service for the business sector.
