9th Sitting of EU-Georgia Parliamentary Association Committee

On February 12-13, the EU-Georgia Parliamentary Association Committee will open the 9th sitting with participation of Georgian Parliament and EP Delegations.

The sitting is to be held in European Parliament in Strasbourg, presided by the Co-Chairs, David Songulashvili and Marina Kaljurand.

The PAC will consider Georgia-EU relations, EUAA implementation, DCFTA application prospects and its impact on economy and agrarian development. MPs will also discuss democratic reforming and peaceful resolution of conflicts in the occupied territories of Georgia.

The Deputy Foreign Relations Minister, Vakhtang Makharoblishvili, Deputy Economy Minister, Genadi Arveladze, Deputy Head of International Relations Department at MIA, Nino Gakharia, Deputy Head of the Department of International Relations of the Office of the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality, Viktoria Baikova will deliver the reports. The PAC will adopt the statement and the recommendations in view of facilitation to EUAA implementation.

EU-Georgia Parliamentary Association Committee is composed of the Georgian MPs and MEPs. It is one of the institutional frames established under the EUAA for EU-Georgia cooperation, along with the Association Council in the executive authority and the Association Committees. Under EUAA (Book VIII, Chapter I, Article 410), the EU-Georgia Parliamentary Association Committee shall facilitate to development of Parliamentary diplomacy and enhancement of EP-Georgian Parliament relations.

The primary objective of the Parliamentary Delegation is to facilitate and develop Georgia-EU cooperation, ensure oversight on EUAA implementation, enhance Georgian Parliament—P relations and support EU integration.
