Media and Society 12 Feb 2025
The Action Plan 2025 of the EU Integration Committee approved

The EU Integration Committee endorsed the Action Plan 2025. According to Levan Makhashvili, the Chair of the Committee, the Action Plan comprises five key strategic objectives, encompasses certain activities and covers lawmaking, oversight, parliamentary diplomacy and public relations assignments of the Committee.

As elucidated by L. Makhashvili, In 2025, the Committee intends to allocate a substantial timeframe for the legal approximation with the European Union and the fulfillment of the Association Agreement commitments. The Action Plan envisages the adoption of the laws in sector spheres, serving as the basis for the establishment of the EU standards.

As the Committee’s Chair noted, the Committee, within the framework of its oversight function, shall monitor the fulfillment of the Association Agreement, the Association Agenda, and the EU Integration National Action Plan. At that, the oversight of the adoption of the normative acts under the Association Agreement and the enforcement of the endorsed legal acts are scheduled.

Furthermore, the Action Plan also incorporates the Committee hearings in domains such as environmental protection, agriculture, healthcare, energy, transportation, and the DCFTA.
In accordance with the Plan, the mobilization of support for Georgia’s EU membership through parliamentary diplomacy has been identified as a priority. This entails the provision of international partners with information regarding democratic reforms, the strengthening of bilateral relations with EU member and candidate states, the exchange of best practices, the enhancement of cooperation with EU institutions, and participation in international parliamentary events.

According to L. Makhashvili, the Committee intends to draw attention to civic engagement in integration-related processes and aims to inform society about the progress of the EU membership.
