Irakli Kobakhidze: Bidzina Ivanishvili has ensured curbing of elite corruption in the country

Chairman of Parliament 22 Sep 2018
Irakli Kobakhidze: Bidzina Ivanishvili has ensured curbing of elite corruption in the country

“I know what the principles are that Bidzina Ivanishvili chases, and I know his approach to his work. He is the person that ensured curbing of elite corruption in the country”, - the Speaker, H.E. Irakli Kobakhidze commented to media.

In response to the questions about the developments around TV Company “Iberia”, he stated that the ruling party will never allow corruption. “There were many names declared. Our task is to go through all the questions and answer them. We naturally will never allow corruption in our country. Hence, if there ever is any doubt about corruption, then it comes within competence of the respective agencies. It requires scrutiny and answers to the questions”.

He excludes any ties of the Chair of the Party “Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia” with the case.

“Let me openly declare – I exclude it. It is absolutely excluded. I know what the principles are that Bidzina Ivanishvili chases, and I know his approach to his work. He is the person that ensured curbing of elite corruption in the country. This was the elite corruption which was in blossom before 2012 and it was due to the principles of Mr. Ivanishvili that the public management principles have been drastically changed. It is due to Bidzina Ivanishvili, due to his principles. As to the others, it requires scrutiny by the law-enforcement agencies and the Parliament, within our competence, will also show interest to this case”.

All necessary measures shall be undertaken to clarify the case, he noted.
