The Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Maia Bitadze and the Chair of the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee, David Songulashvili, the First Deputy Chair of the Environmental Committee, Khatia Tsilosani and the Deputy Chair, Salome Kurasbediani held a meeting with the Director of the Energy Community Secretariat, Artur Lorkowski.

D. Songulashvili underlined the importance of cooperation with the Energy Community.

“The Committee is actively engaged in the activity for facilitation of the development of the field and systematically works to, in line with the assumed commitments and in cooperation with the Energy Community, establish and implement all the provisions that are reflected in the European legislation. I would like to particularly underline the importance of the Black Sea Submarine Cabling project in terms of the infrastructural connectivity. This project opens a window of opportunity for our country to acquire the status of a regional energy hub, which means highly competitive, rationally utilizable renewable energy resource and export of excessive energy to the international markets”, - he stated.

According to the Deputy Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Salome Kurasbediani, the agenda also included new issues that become relevant deriving from the amendments of the EU legislation.

“The issues were related to energy and environmental directions. We reconciled certain positions and agreed to further cooperate in this direction for optimal outcomes”, - she noted.
