Mamuka Mdinaradze: centuries shall pass and the Georgian people will cherish the vision as is the pathos provided in the Draft Constitutional Laws

“Back in 2017, when we were urging about the introduction of the record to the Constitution that the marriage is a union of a man and a woman with the purpose of the creation of a family, we were responded that there was no need. However, time revealed its necessity. We did not know back then that time would come when the Prime Minster of Britain would have to highlight that a woman is a woman and that a man is a man”, - the Parliamentary Majority Leader, Mamuka Mdinaradze stated in Ozurgeti at the universal-public consideration of the Draft Constitutional Changes and the Draft Constitutional Law on the Protection of Family Values and Minors.

According to him, the different human rights in any direction shall be protected; however, at the same time, we need to protect our future generations from the propaganda of the non-traditional lifestyle.

“The tendencies are lingering in the world which, deriving from our traditions, culture, credo and mentality, we shall oppose to and maintain our own identical, certain vision. I believe, centuries shall pass and the Georgian people will cherish the vision as is the pathos provided in the Draft Constitutional Laws. On the one hand, we stress that all human rights shall be protected indeed. We need to position ourselves that regardless of lifestyle, the rights of every person shall be strictly protected. Years ago, we adopted the Anti-Discriminative Law and the Constitution stipulates diverse guarantees and naturally, human rights shall be strictly protected. Even if one person expresses a different orientation, his/her rights shall as well be protected. Besides, the propaganda of a non-traditional lifestyle shall be excluded and protect our future generations from a hazardous pseudo-liberal impact. We need to highlight both directions: the protection of human rights and the protection of future generations from propaganda, which is our central motivation”, - he stated.
