In accordance with Article 48 of the Rules of Procedure, a working group has been established within the Sports Committee to promote the development of the fields of sport and physical education. The Chair of the Committee, Viktor Sanikidze, spoke about the objectives and areas of activity of the working group.

According to Viktor Sanikidze, the working group will prepare a systemic analysis of the challenges existing in the fields of sport and physical education and will identify the problems. In order to support the development of this sector, the group will develop proposals and recommendations, which will be submitted to the relevant bodies of the executive authority to ensure the implementation of practical steps.

As for the main tasks of the working group, Viktor Sanikidze noted that one of the key directions will be supporting the professional activities of coaches and improving their remuneration system. The group will also prepare relevant recommendations regarding school sports infrastructure, provision of sports equipment, and the professional development and retraining of physical education teachers.

The working group, which includes members of the Sports, and the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committees, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Sport and sports federations, will operate until the end of December 2026.
