Parliament Adopted in I Reading the draft Law on Grants

The Parliament of Georgia considered and adopted in the I reading, with 75 votes in favor, the draft law on Grants.
According to the presenter, Maia Bitadze, Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, the proposed amendments will grant JSC Georgia Energy Development Fund the authority to receive and issue grants.
She further noted that the Georgia Energy Development Fund was accredited by the Green Climate Fund in 2025. The Fund’s total contributions amount to USD 22 billion.
The Green Climate Fund is the financial mechanism of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and finances projects related to climate change mitigation and adaptation measures in participating countries. It is regarded as one of Georgia’s largest partner organizations in the fields of climate change mitigation and the development of a green economy.
