Plenary 25 Jun 2026
The Parliament supported the draft law on the Investigative Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia

At the plenary session of the Parliament, the amendments to the Law “On the Investigative Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia” were considered in the III reading and supported with 81 votes.

The draft law was presented at the plenary session, under an expedited procedure, by the First Deputy Chair of the Legal Issues Committee, Tornike Cheishvili.

According to the bill, the requirements for admission to the Investigative Service are clarified. It is established that citizens of Georgia who are at least 18 years old (instead of 21) and not older than 40 (instead of 35), and who meet the special qualification requirements defined by law and by order of the Minister of Finance, may be admitted to the Service.

In addition, a retirement age limit is introduced for employees holding special state ranks, depending on their rank category. Specifically, the age limit is set at 60 years for junior and mid-level special rank employees, and at 65 years for senior and higher special rank employees.
