Parliament Adopts Amendments to the Air Code of Georgia at Third Reading

Parliament has adopted the amendments to the Air Code of Georgia at third reading with 79 votes in favour.
The draft law was presented to the Members of Parliament by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili.
The amendments introduce changes to the definition of the term "ultralight aircraft". Under the new provisions, the agency will be authorised to define additional technical characteristics beyond the weight parameters already specified, through a normative act issued by the Director of the Agency.
According to the draft law, the detection of alcohol intoxication by a flight safety inspector or SAFA inspector will be carried out through the inspection of the aircraft crew using a special device prior to the commencement of the flight.
The amendments also stipulate that one of the grounds for removing an aircraft from the registry shall be a request made by an authorised person.
