In his remarks, Giorgi Chakvetadze emphasized Georgia’s geopolitical role in strengthening Europe’s security, energy, and transport connectivity. He noted that Georgia, as an EU candidate country and an important transit bridge between Europe and Asia, plays a special role in enhancing energy security and developing transport and digital links.
He underscored the strategic importance of the Black Sea region and the South Caucasus, as well as the significance of projects such as the Middle Corridor and the Black Sea Submarine Electricity Cable, which contribute to deeper connections and economic cooperation between Europe and the region. Giorgi Chakvetadze also stated that the application of double standards by the European Union and what he described as unfair treatment toward Georgia is a matter of concern.
COSAP is a permanent parliamentary platform for cooperation on European Union accession issues among the countries of the Western Balkans. Under North Macedonia’s chairmanship, the conference brought together parliamentary delegations from the Western Balkan countries, as well as representatives of the parliaments of Georgia and Turkey.
