The Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, H.E. Shalva Papuashvili held a meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malaysia, H.E. Mr. Johari BIN ABDUL.

The Speakers underlined the growing dynamics of bilateral relations and accentuated parliamentary links.

The parties expressed their commitment to enhancing parliamentary cooperation and highlighted the cooperation prospects in the trade, economic, tourism and education sectors.

The conversation touched upon the cooperation within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The Speaker of the House of Representatives expressed his anticipation that the Parliamentary Delegation of Georgia would participate in the ASEAN PA General Assembly, which is scheduled to be convened in September in Malaysia.

Mr. Papuashvili extended congratulations to Malaysia for assuming the presidency of the ASEAN Parliamentary Assembly and extended best wishes for its continued success.

The meeting was held within the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament (IPU) in Geneva. Speaker Papuashvili is accompanied in his visit by the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze.
