Meeting of Shalva Papuashvili with the Speaker of The Grand National Assembly of Turkey

H.E. Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia met with Numan Kurtulmuş, the Speaker of The Grand National Assembly of Turkey.


Mr. Kurtulmuş extended congratulations to Mr. Papuashvili on his re-election as Speaker of the Georgian Parliament. Mr. Kurtulmuş emphasized the paramount importance of the will of the people and underscored the significance of respecting the election results, which will serve as the foundation for future development.


The parties emphasized the close ties between Georgia and Turkey, which have fostered years of mutually beneficial cooperation and a deep bond between their people.


The conversation centered on the further strengthening of parliamentary relations. The parties reached a consensus on the establishment of a trilateral cooperation format between Georgia, Turkey, and Azerbaijan at the level of the Speakers.


Numan Kurtulmuş invited Shalva Papuashvili to Turkey.


The parties reviewed the regional and global developments, particularly the peacekeeping initiatives aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine under the administration of the newly elected US President.


Shalva Papuashvili extended his gratitude to his Turkish counterpart for his unwavering support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.


The parties agreed on the enhancement of the strategic partnership between the two countries.


The meeting was held within the framework of the 150th IPU Assembly in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.


The Parliamentary Delegation of Georgia, headed by the Speaker, is composed of: Nikoloz Samkharadze, the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, and Maia Bitadze, the Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee
