The Human Rights Protection and Civil Integration Committee approved, in the II reading, amendments to the law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The draft law concerns the accessibility of websites and applications for persons with disabilities.
The reporter, the Committee Chair Rati Ionatamishvili, introduced the changes made to the draft law after the I reading. These amendments included updates related to definitions of terms and implementation deadlines.
“A number of productive meetings were held during the development of the bill. The Digital Governance Agency of Georgia played an invaluable role in improving the draft law, particularly due to the technological terminology involved and its specific nature. We also held meetings with representatives of persons with disabilities. I would like to thank them for their interest in this issue. In addition, we maintained proactive communication with the Public Defender of Georgia”, - R. Ionatamishvili stated.
